Just in case anyone is in the habit of frantically refreshing my blog, maybe you noticed that the site went down for a while. This had nothing to do with Hurricane Irene, which in my area has been something of a disappointment.

It had everything to do, on the other hand, with me not paying close enough attention to which directory I was in before issuing a pretty little “rm -R *” command to my server. I love linux: it doesn’t baby you like Windows does. Which means, if you ask it to delete everything, it will assume you know what you are talking about. Yes sir! No questions asked!

Just because I’m a geek doesn’t mean I’m not incredibly dumb sometimes. So you’re looking at an old version of the site, restored from the backup that at least I was smart enough to keep around. All the posts are intact (phew!), but some of the trappings aren’t, for now, and some other things might look weird. Geez. Time to go survey the damages caused by my itchy keyboard finger.

Didn’t understand most of that! That’s why you have a blog and I don’t. Glad to hear you’re safe after the hurricane.

Just found your blog…it was recommended by Betty Duffy on her blog.

After reading several entries, I have to say…there’s quite a bit of hard-won wisdom here. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings. “Youngsters” like you give me great hope for the future of the Church.

Does it make me a horrible, sterotyping person that my first thought when I read this post was, “There are gay Linux guys?!?!” I have a ton of Linux friends, and a ton of gay friends, and have never seen overlap between the two. At all. Thank you for broadening my horizons.

Oh, and thanks for all the amazing posts you’ve been writing lately. I finally got a chance to add you to my blogroll. Keep up the great work!

      Ha! You bigot.

Actually, I’ve always figured that Windows is for republicans, Mac OS is for democrats, and Linux is for libertarians.

I was about to explain why, but I decided not to alienate everyone all at once.

Steve, you’re so right about the Linux/Mac/Windows thing!

Love your blog; I came by way of Conversion Diary. As a geeky Catholic introvert with deep, dark secrets, I salute you, brother.
