The Voice Of the Human Heart

My review of Iris DeMent’s latest, Sing the Delta, is up at Catholic Exchange. Check it out and, gosh, listen to Iris DeMent! She’s the kind of artist who permanently adds to your life something that wasn’t there before.

Ah! That was one of my Christmas presents! I love it and can’t wait to read what you wrote!

    Also–call me:)

    1. I know, sorry, soon!

Oh, I’m glad somebody got you some DeMent. Naturally you would love her, I think.

As soon as I listened to her I thought: “Wow, she really does remind me of a bleating sheep!” I think she would be a bit of an acquired taste for me. I like the poetry of the lyrics, but the voice will take some getting used to ;). I think her more recent album is easier for me to listen too – a bit more mellow a bleat :p.

Nice selection! Saw her play this summer at a little outdoor concert in NH and she was just lovely 🙂 She’s doing a couple shows in MA next week — hope you can get out to see her! So good!

I fell in love with Iris almost 15 years ago when I first heard “Let the Mystery Be”
