Convertigo: The Long & Winding Road

Convertigo: The Long & Winding Road

Here it is! I spend an hour talking with Bryce Taylor of Convertigo. It’s a winding road. We start with my parents’ journey from non-observant Judaism to Buddhism to Evangelicalism to Catholicism and almost to Eastern Orthodoxy. I skipped the part where they joined a cult, because you just can’t cover everything in an hour. I did namecheck Baba Ram Dass, but I mistakenly call him Buddhist because I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Along the way I talk about growing up gay and being depressed, being scared of Marian apparitions and the people who obsess over them, and wonder aloud why gay Christians tweens seem to be such a pious bunch. We dip our toes into the toxic quagmire of ex-gay theory for a second before pulling our toes right the heck back out of there.

Then I get weepy about the Divine Liturgy for a while. Did not full-on cry though, hooray!

Give it a listen, consider supporting Convertigo on Patreon, follow @convertigopod on Twitter, and please have a wonderful Sunday.

Is there a way to download the episode for offline listening?

    1. I believe you can do this by subscribing to convertigo on Apple podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/convertigo/id1454963413) or other podcast services. I use android, and was able to find it by downloading the google podcast app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.podcasts&hl=en_US) and searching for “convertigo”.
